Dilly Bread

We are giving this for Christmas-- trying to avoid the sweets around this place. It is delicious warm with butter.

¼ C warm water
1 T yeast
1 T butter
2 T dill seed
1 C creamed cottage cheese (heated to lukewarm)
1 t salt
2 T sugar
1 unbeaten egg
¼ t baking soda
1 T minced onion
2 ¼- 2 ½ C flour

Combine water, yeast, cottage cheese, sugar, onion, butter, dill seed, salt, soda & egg. Add flour to form a stiff dough, mix well after each addition. Cover. Let rise in warm place until doubled in size, 50-60 minutes. Punch down dough. Turn into a well greased 8” round casserole (I just put it on a cookie sheet in an artisan type loaf). Let rise in warm place until light 30-40 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes. Brush with soft butter and sprinkle with salt.
